ContentStudio Review: Why I Switched to this Social Media Tool

ContentStudio is a popular social media management tool for bloggers, online marketers, webmasters, entrepreneurs, and businesses. It’s not a typical social media scheduling tool, but rather it’s a social media management and content distribution platform.

I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and after the recent makeover, it’s gotten a lot better. One of the features really made me switch to this social media management tool, which I’ll reveal later on.

If you’re a blogger or a business owner, you’d know how important it is to show up on social media, post content, and keep up with the industry to stay relevant. I can say this some confidence that it’s not possible to handle your social media marketing without a social media management tool.

It’s quite understandable because you can schedule 6 different posts on Facebook and Twitter, but you can’t show up 6 times a day just to post the content. There are a million things that we’re juggling every day. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that you won’t consider a tool that does social media posting for you.

The interesting thing is that I’ve tested other tools too, but there was something missing in them. But when I came across ContentStudio, it felt right. Not only is it easy to use, but it also has great features.

Let’s dive deep and find out the whole story.

The Background: Previous Social Media Tools

It was simple, easy-to-use, and reliable.

It started off as a stand-alone tool, but later on, it was acquired by Twitter.

If you’ve used it, you’d agree that it’s just a Twitter-only scheduling and management tool. You can’t manage any other social media account from Tweetdeck. I liked Tweetdeck, but the shortcoming was huge. I wanted to simultaneously post on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Moreover, I wanted my social media tool to post content on Pinterest and Instagram too.

Tweetdeck was far behind than that, but as far as Twitter-management is concerned, it does the job perfectly.

You can schedule tweets, follow certain hashtags, and keep an eye on the popular accounts. The multi-column dashboard, however, was a positive thing in Tweetdeck.

But clearly, I wanted more than that so I stopped using it.

Later on, I came across Buffer, which was a fantastic tool. The free version allows you to connect your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts. But it requires you to upgrade to a premium plan for posting on Pinterest.

One of the upsides of Buffer was that you could add up to 25 team members to your account and give them access depending upon your requirements.

However, they don’t have an affiliate program, which was one of the reasons I drifted apart. You got to pay the bills. Right? If I spend money on a tool and work hard to promote it, and then I deserve some incentive.

Another reason why I stopped using Buffer on a regular basis was that they didn’t add a “repost” feature like many other social media management tools did.

It doesn’t mean I don’t like Buffer anymore; it’s a fantastic tool and I might use it if I need to.

So these were two social media management tools that I used before ContentStudio.

The Features of ContentStudio

Here are some of the key features of ContentStudio:

Workspace

Workspace is my favorite feature in ContentStudio. Unlike any other social media management tool, they came up with an idea of developing workspace feature.

A workspace is a section that you create before linking your ContentStudio account to your social media profile. It pretty much works like a board for specific social media accounts, for example, I made a workspace for StartedBlogging, which has Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest accounts of StartedBlogging linked to it. The second workspace is for my YouTube Vlog channel, which contains social media accounts related to my YouTube channel.

The best part is that you can separate your work social media channels to your personal social media channels just by creating separate workspaces. For instance, you can create a workspace for your company and link up all your company’s social media accounts. After that, you can create another workspace and link up all your personal social media accounts. This way, you don’t have to go back and forth to publish content on different channels. You can switch to another workspace within a couple of clicks. Voila!

Discover

Discover is a content discovery section which hunts down that content based on your followed topics. ContentStudio is good at providing a handful of features under one umbrella. There are two main sections of “discover” that help users discover the industry’s popular content.

You can either go through the curated topics to follow or you can or set up your own topics to dig deeper and discover fresh content.

Publish

Publish is a publishing section of the ContentStudio that allows you to post or schedule your content across social media and blogging platforms. The publishing is so easy to do that anyone can do it. Let me walk you through the whole process.

Once you’re logged in to your ContentStudio account, you’d click the “Publish” button at the top of the page, and it’d navigate you to the publishing section.

The publishing page gives you two options; either you can post or schedule blog posts on WordPress, Tumblr, and Medium or you can post or schedule for social media accounts.

If you’re ready to post or schedule your social media posts, you’d require to select the social media accounts in the social media posting section, then you’d have to create the post. Meaning, you can write the text, add a link, paste relevant hashtags, and insert an image — or do whatever you want to do.

Once you’re done, you can either hit the post or schedule it. The interesting feature is that you can repost content on some social media platforms except for Twitter. For example, if you create a Facebook post for your page, you can select the repost feature to republish the post multiple times at your given schedule.

Mobile Apps

Besides the desktop version of ContentStudio, they also have iOS and Android apps for the users. Now, you can manage your social media accounts when you’re on the go. All you need is to install the apps on your smartphone, log in to your account, and start managing your account on your phone.

Analyze

The analytics tool has been under construction. It’ll be available in the future.

How to Use ContentStudio

Once you’ve bought the subscription of the ContentStudio, following are the key steps to get started with ContentStudio:

#1: Sign in to use ContentStudio

First of all, log in to your ContentStudio account to get things started. You’d need your email address and password to sign in to your account. In case, you haven’t received any email from ContentStudio after the purchase, then check out your spam folder.

Don’t rush to publish section of the ContentStudio. Instead, set up your social media accounts in your ContentStudio dashboard to move forward. It’d hardly take a few seconds to link up your social media accounts to ContentStudio. The next step is very important.

#2: Create a workspace

One of the features that I liked the most about ContentStudio is the workspace. What this means is that you can keep a specific brand’s social media accounts in its workspace, which means you don’t have to rely on any other social media scheduling tool for your other brand.

If you manage clients’ social media accounts or you have multiple brands, workspace option comes in handy for this situation. You can manage different brands’ social media accounts without mixing them up. Easy-peasy!

#3: Select your social media accounts

Once you’ve created your workplace and added your social media accounts, the next thing to do is the selection of the social media accounts to post or schedule your content.

So, go to the “Publish” section of the dashboard, and select your social media accounts to post your content to, but there are a few more things before you hit the post or publish button. You’ll read those things in the next point.

Furthermore, you should know that ContentStudio supports Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

#4: Create and publish your post

Once you’ve selected the platforms, go on and create your post. Creating a post refers to preparing your social media post, for example, adding your image, writing the text, and adding the hashtags. You must not ignore the date and time of the publication. To schedule your post for the future, click on the “Schedule” option and do the rest of the things.

Double-check your details, especially the date and timing of the publication. Once you’re done with post creation, click on the publish or schedule button to proceed.

Pricing

Pricing is an important element of any social media marketing tool. Besides looking at the features, one always sees the pricing to understand whether or not the product is affordable.

One of the best things about ContentStudio is that it has multiple plans. You can pick the most suitable package that fulfills your needs and helps your business grow.

Here are the plans:

Pros and Cons of ContentStudio

Just like any other product on the market, ContentStudio has some pros and cons. We’d like you to go through them before you make any decision regarding switching to a new social media platform:

Pros

Here is the list of pros:

Workspaces

Workspaces feature is perhaps my favorite one in the tool. I have never seen anything like this in any social media management tool. It makes so easier to manage multiple social media accounts of different brands. You can create a separate workspace for each brand and keep everything organized without any hassle.

Affiliate Program

One of the reasons I’m so much interested in ContentStudio is the affiliate program. Some great tools out there don’t offer affiliate programs, which is sad because if I’m willing to pay for their product, I’d love to promote them as well. The team behind ContentStudio knows the importance of affiliate marketing, which is why they offer a 30% commission to the affiliates.

Mobile Apps

ContentStudio has both iOS and Android apps, which means you can manage your social media accounts on the go. It doesn’t matter whether you’re traveling or you don’t carry a laptop every time you leave your office, use the ContentStudio mobile app to post content on social media.

Content Discovery

Content Discovery is a great feature that helps you tap on the relevant topics from the web. It allows you to search and discover resources from your industry and more. You can also follow curated topics to discover more relevant content.

Cons

The following things could have been better:

A Starter Plan

ContentStudio should have a starter plan which could attract the bloggers and online marketers who couldn’t afford to pay $39 per month. It could be called a “lite” plan. A lot of companies offer such starter plans, for example, Shopify does offer a lite plan which costs $9 a month. Maybe, by the time you’re reading this, they may have launched a starter plan which costs less than $39 a month. So watch out for that.

Search Bar on the Blog

It doesn’t seem much of a problem, but a search feature on the blog always helps. ContentStudio missed out this feature on their blog, which hinders the topics search while going through their content.

Why I Switched to ContentStudio

Here are a few reasons why I switched to ContentStudio:

1. The workspace feature fascinated me more than anything. Before using ContentStudio, I used to worry about having multiple social media tools to manage my social media for different blogs and YouTube channels. Now, the workspace feature allows me to do all that under the same umbrella.

2. I started focusing on Pinterest ever since I read a guest post about driving traffic from Pinterest. You must read that blog post too. Since I have been focusing on Pinterest; I needed a social media tool that could schedule content on Pinterest. ContentStudio does that for me.

3. I can promote ContentStudio and earn commission on every sale through my affiliate link. They have an affiliate program that anyone can join and earn money. To succeed in affiliate marketing, it’s necessary to use the product first before promoting, and then tell you experience through reviews and other content. I exactly did that.

4. It’s all-in-one now as far as social media is concerned. By all-in-one, I mean that I don’t have to manage multiple social media sharing tools like before. Therefore, I’m stress-free now.
